I am curious as to how you have read how "The Wire" portrays inner city education...here is a clip just outlining its potential goals. It is one of the first programs to attempt to truly document how students negotiate between home, the streets, and school.

This clip of the wire to me displays how society is failing our generation.
School is one of the only places a child can get away from an abusive father or mother who use drugs.Shouldn't it give us the opportunity to make our lives better in the long run as well?
I like this clip because it shows how some school systems are and how the environment and your surroundings can play a big part in your life. For example if you live in a gang infested area it's basically your job to try to not become apart of that "gang life" and do the right thing and go to school to become something. If you don't and you fall under pressure and do become part of that "gang life" then your destroying your life.
